Opportunity for Nonprofits to Win Financial and Consulting Awards

The Social Impact Exchange is a project of Growth Philanthropy Network, Duke University's Center for Strategic Philanthropy and Civil Society, and Duke's Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship. The group's Business Plan Competition will identify social sector scaling initiatives with demonstrated impact and readiness to grow, and it will support them with up to $100,000 in financial and consulting awards.
Eligibility: U.S.-based nonprofit organizations with a focus in education, youth development, health, poverty alleviation or community economic development. Organizations must intend to scale an evidence-based solution(s) to reach greater numbers of people, thereby increasing the impact. Learn more about eligibility requirements here.
Tracks:
- Early-Stage Growth: Organizations that have a strategy for scaling their social impact but are in the early stage of growth.
- Mezzanine-Stage Growth: Organizations that have a) a significant level of successful product/service adoption and demand from the target population, b) demonstrated positive outcomes, and c) defined strategies for scaling their social impact.
Entry process: Competition entrants have access to online resources, take part in group training and one-on-one consulting, and receive customized written feedback on their plans. Judging is conducted by qualified volunteers from multiple sectors. The competition is divided into three rounds of evaluation and takes place from October 2009 to June 2010. The first-round entry deadline is December 18, 2009.
