Triangle Gives Back Answers Pressing Need with Innovation

TRIANGLE GIVES BACK ANSWERS PRESSING NEED WITH INNOVATION

LEADERS, BUSINESSES, REGULAR FOLKS LINK UP TO 'DO GOOD DIFFERENTLY'

EVENT AT SCHOOL KICKS OFF NEW WAY TO CONNECT

(DURHAM) -- Just in time to help remedy a pressing problem at a critical time, Triangle Gives Back, a new and better way to connect volunteers, contributors and nonprofits launched today. Leaders from the Triangle Community Foundation (TGB's creators) joined area business and civic leaders to unveil the project at Durham's Central Park School for Children.

With the recession growing worse for many of our most vulnerable citizens, TGB is revolutionizing the way we do good, and helping the Triangle's philanthropic efforts catch up with its other superlatives.

"The Triangle consistently ranks as one of the best places to live, work and play, but not to make a difference through giving," says Andrea Bazán, TCF's president, citing a 2008 report. "We trail peers in philanthropic assets and giving. One of the causes is a lack of connectedness. Triangle Gives Back aims to change that by linking people and groups with similar passions."

Clearly, the Triangle is a model for communities around the world in regard to talent and innovation. Triangle Gives Back aims to tap into the qualities that make the Triangle great in order to make it that much better. And, with service being encouraged from the highest offices in the country and state, there is no better time to unveil an easy solution that anyone can use.

"The Triangle has grown so rapidly over the last few decades that it is hard for individuals and organizations to find the right opportunities to lend their talent and treasure," says Kevin Trapani, CEO, Redwoods Group. "Triangle Gives Back is a Web 2.0 solution to the statement, 'I want to help, but I don't know how.'"

Utilizing some of the most popular, innovative and intuitive features and functions of popular social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn, TGB offers both individuals and organizations the opportunity to easily find the right match. In under five minutes, a volunteer to the site can sign-up, complete a profile, link up with people who share his or her interests and potentially find an opportunity to volunteer services or donate money.

For those who are looking for a more private experience, TGB offers many security functions that protect a user's identity and important information.
