Area Graduations Mark New Beginnings

The John Rex Endowment's August 2009 newsletter describes local graduation ceremonies that in the last few months have set Triangle residents on a path to achieve great things in the community.  They are:

  • "Teens Taking Action," Planned Parenthood's health education program that this year graduated eight students trained to conduct peer outreach on specific health topics.
  • "LĂderes de Salud," an El Pueblo program that has trained 140 recent immigrants on health topics and outreach strategies, enabling them to become health advisors in their own communities.
  • "PODER," the Wake County 4-H Extension program that allows Latino teenage boys to learn entrepreneurial skills and form positive life paths.
