It is more important now, with the latest magnitude-6.1 temblor, than ever to respond and give back to those in need in Hait. 

The Triangle Community Foundation has been, and continues, to monitor the response efforts in Haiti. Already, TCF donors and friends have contributed over $47,000 to multiple organizations that working to bring relief to the victims. The Triangle Community Foundation, and many other organizations, has established relief funds to help with this effort. Read more here.

National Organizations Providing Relief 

CARE www.care.org

• CARE has nearly 140 staff on the ground distributing water packets, food and more aid in Haiti right now.
• CARE has established the Haiti Emergency Response Fund, with a goal of raising $10 million to support our multi-year response to provide immediate relief and longer-term rehabilitation.


Friends of the World Food Program www.friendsofwfp.org

• Nearly a million food rations have been distributed in and around Port-au-Prince, reaching some 200,000 people.
• Within the next week, they aim to move the equivalent of 10 million ready-to-eat meals
• Is establishing four humanitarian hubs to deliver food assistance in Port au Prince, and at least 30 others at locations across Haiti

• Working with a network of pastors to distribute critically-needed relief supplies for victims of the massive earthquake
• Distribution network is expected to provide aid to at least 300 families per day.

• AmeriCares has been providing humanitarian aid to Haiti since 1984
• Is a disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs – and supports long-term humanitarian assistance programs

• Emergency medical team is working in what remains of Haitian hospital. They are working with other groups to establish an emergency surgery facility.
• Supporting medical posts throughout the city of Port-au-Prince


United Methodist Committee on Relief www.gbgm-umc.org

• UMCOR is partnering with GlobalMedic to provide clean drinking water, treatment for severe diarrhea, and medical attention to those in need. UMCOR is also supporting GlobalMedic's response through the deployment of paramedics, water technicians, and a doctor to assist those sick or injured.

• Coordinate strategic interventions and facilitate collaboration between local organizations and international aid agencies. Funds will be used to get resources to those in need, such as transport for medical teams, purchase of critical supplies – medicine, food, satellite phones, mobile internet bases, excavation and clean up materials, diesel fuel, etc.

• 14-person American medical team of 8 doctors and six nurses to arrive in Haiti
• 7,000 people to receive food in less than 2 hours from Salvation Army officers and staff
• nearly 200 people, including 100 orphans, to receive medical aid by Salvation Army doctors, nurses, paramedics and other specialists trained in medical care
• A Salvation Army Haitian Relief Team is bringing a water filtration system that will be able to purify up to 10,000 gallons of water per day.

• Five CRS trucks from the neighboring Dominican Republic brought in enough food January 17 to feed 2,500 people for several days, as well as hygiene kits and plastic sheeting for shelter.
