Triangle Gives Back Seeks Candidates for Intern
Triangle Community Foundation (TCF) seeks a talented student intern to assist in coordinating Triangle Gives Back, a regional initiative increasing charitable giving and community engagement. The intern will primarily be responsible for (1) managing the TriangleGivesBack.org online social networking community and (2) implementing the initiative’s outreach strategy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Online Community Management
- Generate and post new content to www.TriangleGivesBack.org at least two times per week.
- Increase effectiveness of TriangleGivesBack.org in connecting individuals with nonprofits and in retaining users by greeting new community members, reaching out to lagged users, and assisting users in making appropriate connections.
- Hosting regular webinars for nonprofit and individual community members to increase their knowledge of site tools.
- Monitoring and reporting on website metrics using Google Analytics.
- II. Marketing and Outreach
- Promote Triangle Gives Back.org online, through the Triangle Gives Back Facebook page, Twitter feed and other sites.
- Promote Triangle Gives Back offline, through marketing the initiative at in-person meetings / events and making introductory presentations to appropriate audiences.
- Assist Community Program Officer and Development Officer for Corporate Outreach in work related to the 1% Giving Challenge - a program that encourages Triangle businesses to give at least 1% to improve the region.
- Work with Community Program Officer and Director of Communications to develop and implement ongoing TriangleGivesBack.org advertising strategy.
DURATION & COMPENSATION
This is a 6-month, part-time internship (20 hours/ week) to be completed between January – June 2011. Salary for this internship is $10 per hour. The intern will work out of TCF’s offices in Downtown Durham’s American Tobacco Campus.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible applicants are currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in journalism, communications, public administration, public policy, nonprofit management, business administration, social work, or a related field. Undergraduate students with exceptional social media and /or online community management experience will also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with 1-3 years of experience working in the public sector as an employee, board member, intern or volunteer. The ideal candidate will have strong online, oral, and written communication skills, personal initiative, the willingness to work independently and as a team player, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a desire to contribute to philanthropy and community building in North Carolina.
