Nonprofit Capacity Building: BCBSNC Foundation’s Healthy Community Institute

Nonprofit Capacity Building: BCBSNC Foundation’s Healthy Community Institute

For the past ten years, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation has remained committed to strengthening the organizational capacity of nonprofits in North Carolina. For that reason, they are hosting the Healthy Community Institute for Nonprofit Excellence (HCI), held in New Bern on April 27-28.

HCI is a special two-day intensive course that engages teams from nonprofit organizations in a comprehensive board and staff-training curriculum. Each attending organization is guided through a process that combines lectures with team-based exercises including clarification of mission, strategic planning and addressing agency-specific issues. Interconnected presentations provide practical insight into solving operational problems, understanding board roles and responsibilities, evaluating board performance, creating effective annual appeal campaigns, understanding giving criteria from the grant maker’s perspective, selling the organization, managing finances, and much more.

The estimated value of this training is in excess of $2,500 per organization; however, all training costs for seminar participants, including lunch, continental breakfast, and materials are free. There is no charge for attending!
