Japan Earthquake Relief: Project Kokoro
Dear Friends:
A meeting will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22nd, at the NC Japan Center, 705 Barbour Drive, Raleigh, for Project Kokoro, whose objective is to identify an affected community in Japan and to work toward enriching and rebuilding the lives of those who live and work there.
Project ideas: Our goal is to bring communities together during this time of crisis for the people of Japan. Rebuilding a school or perhaps a clinic or community center is an activity with a personal face that provides real, tangible benefits for those hardest hit.
How children are involved: We all benefit from mutual understanding across cultures. With assistance from individual volunteers and corporate donors, we hope to establish video communication channels for children locally and in Japan to bridge our communities, once our project is underway.
Money to be raised: As we begin to outline a strategic plan, an associated cost structure will be developed. Since team members are serving strictly as volunteers, all proceeds will go directly to the project.
Getting the word out: Volunteer marketing and community professionals are already beginning to spread the word about Project Kokoro.
Who’s involved: North Carolina Japan Center, Southern Bridge International, the Triangle Business Community, NCSU Center for Student Leadership, and selected public and private schools.
We welcome your participation as well. Come be a part of our team!
