Help Make a Difference with Chatham County Together!
Last week, in Chatham County Together!'s annual public meeting, we heard some touching and amazing stories of how children have been helped by volunteers and staff. In one incredible coincidence, a board member thanked CCT!'s dropout prevention coordinator for helping her nephew, who was close to failing two classes, to graduate successfully last week. The staff member said, "You should thank his tutor directly – she's sitting right next to you!" In another tender moment, a staff member thanked a retiring board member for the 6+ years’ mentoring she has provided to two children and said that, without the stability and support she offered, they likely would have gone into the foster care system. Instead, both girls (now in their teen years) are honor roll students with a host of accomplishments to their names.
These successes would not be possible without the help of community members like you who care about and want to help at-risk children in Chatham County. We are reaching out to you again because we are still $9,000 short of our fundraising goal for June 30, 2011.
To maintain our services to children, we have made deep cuts to our overhead and administrative costs that reflect the cuts that are being made by public funding sources. As a friend and supporter of Chatham County Together!, we are asking you to reach into your pockets for an end-of-the-fiscal year donation of any size to help us through.
We are looking forward to continuing to create more success stories like these in the coming year. Won't you please join with us in helping Chatham's children? Because we are convinced.... mentoring DOES make a difference!!
