Triangle Community Foundation has two competitive grants currently accepting applications.

Biogen Idec Foundation Micro-Grants in Science Education Fund
Application deadline: Wednesday, October 26, 2011

The purpose of this Fund is to provide small, one-time grants to schools and nonprofit organizations in the Triangle region to support science education programs and projects that might otherwise go unfunded. Grants will range from $250 to $2,500, and proposals in the lower and middle parts of the range are encouraged. Preference will be given to projects that focus in the life sciences. Projects must expand and enhance science education at the elementary, middle, or high-school levels.

Borchardt Fund: Request for Proposals
Submission Deadline: October 27, 2011

The Borchardt Fund was established at Triangle Community Foundation in 2007 to support the advancement of education through international exchanges in the field of technology as it applies to education. Grants will support programs that provide international travel opportunities for Triangle educators to learn and gain experience in technology applications and how to incorporate them in the classroom.

Funding will be provided for one year, renewable upon successful completion of the program as determined by the Foundation. Funding will be available to one or more organizations.

Who Can ApplyThe Foundation accepts proposals from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, private and public universities, government entities and faith-based groups based in Chatham, Durham, Orange and Wake counties. Please note that if applying as a private or public school that only one application will be accepted per school. The application must be signed by the principal.
