A Helping Hand – News

A Helping Hand assists older adults and individuals with disabilities in Orange, Durham, Chatham and western Wake counties, fostering dignity and the highest level of independence at all stages of life.

Most of A Helping Hand's clients are over the age of 75. Services include door-through-door transportation to medical appointments, medication reminders, help with errands, meal preparation and light housekeeping. In addition, A Helping Hand provides respite to those providing full-time care for a loved one.

A Helping Hand educates future healthcare providers to be sensitive to the needs of older adults. The students gain experience with direct care in the home setting and receive specialized training to work with individuals with cognitive, mobility and/or visual and hearing impairments.

Our audit shows that 94.5 cents of every dollar raised goes to program services.
