Dear Friend in the Community,
Did you know that 20 percent of adults over the age of 65 no longer drive? Yet senior citizens in our community CAN maintain their independence. Since 1995, more than 2,000 older adults in Orange, Durham, and Chatham counties have depended on the nonprofit organization, A Helping Hand, to meet their transportation needs.
A Helping Hand primarily serves adults 65+ years of age, but also extends services to younger adults with disabilities. Our organization provides companion care and escorted transportation to access healthcare and foster social interaction. Companions assist with medication reminders, prescription pick-up, grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation, correspondence, laundry, light housekeeping and caregiver respite.
A Helping Hand offers care seven days a week/24 hours per day. Companions are thoroughly screened and trained, and the agency is insured and bonded. Client satisfaction is our highest priority.
We need your helping hand to respond to the increasing number of older adults requesting transportation to access health care and other vital services. Our organization serves people of all income levels and your donation will help those who cannot afford the support they desperately need.
A Helping Hand is committed to responsible stewardship and last year spent 94 cents of every dollar raised on program services. Contributions may be made in honor or in memory of a special person. We hope you can join us in caring for these important members of our community. You can donate through our website at www.ahelpinghandnc.org. May you enjoy every blessing in the New Year.
Sincerely,
Cathy Ahrendsen
