Chatham County Literacy Council

The Chatham County Literacy Council is a non-profit agency created to help adults acquire the literacy skills they need to be successful in life. Because we are community-based and volunteer-driven, we are able to focus on promoting adult literacy in our community one person at a time.

The needs in our county are great:

17% of our county's adults never earned a high school diploma; 7% never made it through 9th grade.

Nearly one-fourth of the adults who didn't graduate from high school live in poverty.

For those struggling residents, the CCLC offers free, confidential, one-on-one and small-group tutoring in reading, writing, ESL (English as a Second Language) learning, GED preparation, basic math and citizenship. Services are available throughout the county and at our Siler City tutoring center.
