CVNC Student Intern Program

In June 2009, CVNC_ began a new internship program to help train the next generation of arts journalists. Meredith College Arts Departments have identified three music students and two theatre students to work with seasoned _CVNC writers to review Triangle events. In January, 2011, we added three students from Brevard College. These students have had their reviews published alongside reviews by our more experienced critics.

CVNC's Executive Editor coordinates this program and our critics have freely given their time to mentor these students. Our Editors, who works directly with the writers to prepare their copy for print, and our Manager/Webmaster ensures that the student reviews are posted in a timely manner.

We seek $2,500 in funding to continue and expand this internship program. These funds will be used to pay:

• Ex. Editor salary for time expended in coordination of intern program
• Editor salary for editing work on student reviews
• Manager salary for technical work required to post the student reviews and notify the performers/presenters
• Per review payment to experienced writer to work with student, attend performance, and advise on copy.
• Small amount to students to cover travel expenses.
