Durham Symphony Orchestra

The mission of the Durham Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1976, is to produce, sponsor and encourage orchestral concerts and other activities to encourage the development of musical talent, appreciation and education. Our goals are:

1. To provide opportunities for citizens from all walks of life to perform classical music and to share their love of music with the community.
2. To encourage and provide opportunities for young musicians to debut with a symphony orchestra and to assist them in making a career in music their choice.
3. To promote an appreciation of classical music as a rich cultural heritage, enchancing the quality of life in the community.
4. To promote and strive for excellence in the performing arts.
