Local Youth Collect Jeans and Bookbags to donate to Friend's of Wake Guardian ad Litem
December 8, 2009
When Drew Lombana and his two younger brothers, Matt and Greg, learned that sometimes kids were taken from their homes suddenly to go into foster care with nothing but the clothes they were wearing and nothing to carry their things in they were moved to do something to help.
The 3 boys (ranging in age from 9 to 15) collected over 100 pairs of kids blue jeans and over a dozen bookbags from their community to donate to Friend's of Wake County Guardian ad Litem. What was incredibly moving is that this was not part of a school, church or organization project, this was just the amazing hearts of 3 young men driven to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than themselves.
The jeans are being distributed to the kids in the foster care program and the bookbags were filled with supplies and given to children entering the foster care system mid-year through Wake County Human Services.
The Friends of the Wake County Guardian ad Litem cannot extend enough appreciation or admiration for these incredible young men, their generosity of spirit and dedication to community.
Thanks Drew, Matt and Greg!!
