Lecture on the Women of Joel Lane's Family

Gwen Mays, descendant of Joel Lane's brother, Jesse, will speak about women of Joel Lane's family at 7 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2010 in the Visitors Center at 160 south Saint Mary's Street in Raleigh, NC 27603.

Gwen is the Organizational Records Archivist at the State Archives and has a personal interest in the colonial period, women's history, and of course the Lane family. She has a Master’s Degree in Archival Management from NCSU and has worked at the North Carolina State Archives since 1994. Her minor was in Southeastern Colonial History, with an emphasis on women’s history. She has been doing family history research for almost 30 years, and as a Lane descendant has a special interest in the people and the history of North Carolina in general and Wake County in particular. She lives in Raleigh and is married with two grown daughters.
