Seeking Board Member(s)
ME³ is currently seeking board members. ME³ board members must have a dedication to the cause of promoting volunteerism and engaging others in good works in Wake County, NC. Each ME³ board member is asked to contribute 13-16 hours per month to board work, attend one monthly board meeting, and chair or co-chair one of the board's committees. Committee meetings are generally held once a month as well, so board members generally attend two meetings 1 board meeting, 1 committee meeting] per month. We ask that all potential board members have experience as a volunteer with any charitable cause in the past this is important to us because as an organization that promotes volunteerism, we hope that our leadership can understand volunteer perspectives.
We are looking for Board Members with the following skills/experience:
BOARD MEMBER 1:
Will chair/co-chair the committee to publish, fundraise for, grow and develop our newsletter, Empower. Empower distributes news about volunteerism and volunteer opportunities to locations around Wake County. This Board member will be asked to oversee the process of collecting newsletter articles from volunteer writers, sell ads to fund the paper and earn fundraising profits for ME³, establish relationships with potential advertisers and sponsors for the paper, and get Empower formatted, printed, and distributed on a timeline. Empower chair will also be asked to help develop Empower and help plan its growth over 2009-2011 so that it can become a sustainable source of funding for ME³. Chair will coordinate volunteers to complete Empower tasks and help with each task as/if needed. Prior experience as a volunteer with any nonprofit required. Prior experience on a nonprofit board preferred but not required.
BOARD MEMBER 2:
Will chair/co-chair the effort to manage volunteers, build outreach efforts, volunteer appreciation and rewards efforts and events, and help evaluate programs and contribute to long-term strategic planning for program effectiveness. May also assist in ME³'s "Volunteer Curriculum" effort to integrate a semester-long elective in Wake County high schools that teaches students about social issues, volunteerism, and community leadership. May also be asked to, on occasion, help recruit additional volunteers and supporters. Prior experience as a volunteer with any nonprofit required. Prior experience on a nonprofit board preferred but not required.
BOARD MEMBER 3:
Skills desired include video camera use and editing, web design, social media expertise. This board member would help keep ME³ up-to-date technologically and get its message out through up-to-date means as well as continuously helping design media videos, etc.] alongside our Marketing director to help the public connect more personally with our message. May also assist in creating online newsletters and messages to go to our volunteers and community associates. Experience in branding, marketing, and building community and business relationships preferred. Prior experience as a volunteer with any nonprofit required. Prior experience on a nonprofit board preferred but not required.
