North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC is an NPR affiliated public radio station, a service of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, broadcasting at 91.5 FM in the Triangle and Triad, at 90.9 FM in Rocky Mount, and at 88.9 FM on the Outer Banks. North Carolina Public Radio is heard by more than 275,000 weekly listeners in 42 counties across the state.
WUNC strives to influence public life by focusing on civic and cultural issues and has the goal of being connected to the community. With the largest public radio news staff in North Carolina, WUNC also covers North Carolina news, events and issues and produces The State of Things, The People’s Pharmacy, Back Porch Music, and The Story with Dick Gordon – which is carried nationally on public radio stations and XM satellite radio. WUNC also produces an acclaimed series, North Carolina Voices, that delves into major issues facing North Carolinians such as poverty, war, education and unemployment.
