Philharmonic Association – News

The Philharmonic Association provides the opportunity for young musicians to learn, understand, and perform great symphonic and jazz music in six ensembles. These ensembles include three full symphony orchestras and two string orchestras that study and perform great classical music. The different orchestras seek to provide opportunities to musicians of various levels of proficiency. The Triangle Youth Philharmonic, (TYP), is the most advanced group; the Triangle Youth Symphony, (TYS), is for moderately advanced musicians; and the Triangle Youth Orchestra, (TYO), is for intermediate students with less orchestral experience; and Triangle Youth String Orchestras (TYS)-East and TYSO-West) are for beginning string students. The sixth group, the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, (TYJE), is for advanced high school musicians interested in studying and performing the best of the big band jazz literature.

The Philharmonic Association provides professional training to promote the students' participation in and lifelong understanding and love of great symphonic and jazz music and endeavors to increase family awareness and community interest in order to ensure the continuing appreciation of, participation in, and financial support of these musical activities.
