McCrae Hardy Is New TYS Conductor

The Philharmonic Association is pleased to welcome McCrae Hardy as our new TYS conductor. Mr. Hardy brings a wealth of experience to the PA having been Music Director of the outdoor drama based in Cherokee, "Unto These Hills", from 1977 - 2005 and Music Director/Conductor of North Carolina Theatre from 1984 – 2005. He was a recipient of the Raleigh Medal of Arts in 1994 in recognition to his extraordinary contribution to the arts. The photograph here shows him rehearsing TYS in 2005 when he appeared as a guest conductor. He will bring the energy, creativity, and dedication that is so important in a conductor, especially of young musicians. The Philharmonic Association is thrilled that Mr. hardy is willing to share his talents and expertise with our organization and the young musicians we serve.
