Universal Design Image Collection

March 26, 2011

Communicating about universal design is greatly facilitated by using images of the designed environment. One of the challenging aspects of defining and promoting universal design has been the lack of a common visual reference to do so.

The staff of UDI, under contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), have posted a collection of hundreds of catalogued and described universal design images on the CDC's Public Health Image Library (PHIL). The unique and free collection can be found on line at http://phil.cdc.gov/phil/home.asp. Use search term "universal design" to access the images.
