Healthy Aging Network

The UD Institute has begun work on two new CDC-funded projects for the Healthy Aging Network: the Community Wayfinding Concept Development and the Community Wayfinding Assessment Project.

CWF Concept Development Project
The RL Mace Universal Design Institute, will provide expertise in universal design, wayfinding, and accessibility issues. He will contribute to conceptual framework development; participate in preparation of manuscripts and other products, and link to relevant literature in the fields of universal design and planning, including the grey literature. He has previously contributed to HAN initiatives in the policy arena.

CWF Assessment Project
The RL Mace Universal Design Institute, will provide expertise in universal design, wayfinding, and accessibility issues. He will serve as a member of the scoring protocol expert panel and contribute to development, validation and refinement of wayfinding and accessibility scales of the CDC-HAN Audit Tool and assist in design and interpretation of results of the wayfinding task-walk.

These projects have team members from UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Washington, and the NACDD (National Association of Chronic Disease Directors)
