A Record-Setting House Party for 2011

On Friday, September 23rd, the 2011 Home and Away House Party for SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals at The Carolina Inn raised a total of $176,000. Three hundred and thirty people attended, and made the evening a very festive occasion. The live and silent auctions on domestic
and international excursions raised $32,500, while an open request for bids of $500, $250 and $100 raised $33,500. Sponsorships and ticket sales raised in excess of $104,000 prior to the party itself.

Dana Rawls Pearsall chaired the event and her committee of Carol Callahan, Margie Haber, Lucy Falk,Nanci Jordan, Marsha Roslanowick,Susan Skolsky, and Lee Wollman pulled off an incredible night of fun, food, dancing, and a live casino. Excursions included a week-long cruise in the British Isles, a week in a cabin in Big Sky, Montana, a week at the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St. Maarten and a week in Boca Raton. The trips included a long weekend in NYC, a mountain trip to St. James Lake, a week at Wintergreen and a week at Atlantic Beach.

UNC Health Care served as the presenting sponsor. Silver sponsors were Dr. Uday and Laura Reebye. Biogen Idec, Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, and Lisa Carey and Matt Ewend served as bronze sponsors.

To date, we have provided 75,000 guest stays to patients and families from 99 of NC’s 100 counties, 32 other states, and 5 foreign countries. Your ongoing gifts to Family House--and your support of our special events--continue to make our work possible.
