Imagine a world without art, without song, without stories.
Raleigh Fine Arts has been promoting and enhancing the arts in Raleigh and North Carolina for over 40 years.

The Raleigh Fine Arts Society, Inc. was formed in 1965 "To further art in the community...and to encourage public appreciation, enthusiasm, support and understanding of art, music and literature." Through projects and advocacy, Raleigh Fine Arts sees to it that art, literature and music, and their creators, continue as vital elements of our community. Signature projects include:

NC Artists Exhibition - the only statewide juried exhibition of works open to NC residents, college students and professors across all 100 counties in NC. Held since 1978, 600 entries were submitted for the 2008 exhibit, and award prizes were increased to new levels. The Betty Ray McCain Gallery in the Progress Energy Center will be home to the 2009 exhibit.

Literary Contest - open to high school students throughout Wake County. Held since 1978, 600+ entries were submitted in 2008 representing 19 schools. Monetary prizes for students and their schools recognize outstanding short stories at the event held in Fletcher Theater at the Progress Energy Center. Students give high praise to the Young Writers’ Workshop preceding the awards ceremony whereby they receive valuable tips and critiques from writers and judges that will help strengthen their writing skills.

Choral Celebration - open to elementary students throughout Wake County. Held since 1999, musical performances were conducted in 2008 by 1200 children representing 19 school choral groups on two evenings in the magical setting of Meymandi Concert Hall, the home of the North Carolina Symphony.

These events inspire, realize and reward creative talent and artistic imagination in all walks of life and all ages.

In addition to the above projects, Raleigh Fine Arts members contribute countless volunteer hours to the community, supporting the following institutions in a variety of capacities:

NC Executive Mansion
NC Symphony
NC Museum of Art
NC Museum of History
Gregg Museum of Art and Design
Carolina Ballet

Raleigh Fine Arts has no paid staff and relies solely on the corporate and private sector, along with foundations, for funding of these wonderful projects. Through your generous support, you will help foster "paths to greatness" for children, teens and adults alike.

Imagine a world without art, without song, without stories.
