DURHAM, N.C. -- From Durham to Hillsboro, everywhere The Salvation Army helps people in need, you can help this holiday season, by ringing at a Red Kettle or sponsoring an Angel Tree -- and there are more online options this year than ever before.
You can ring at a Red Kettle, real-world or online. You can even ring from your own Facebook or web page.
• Sign up online at www.register2ring.org/durham and follow the instructions for selecting a shift at a real-world kettle, available between Nov. 18 and Dec. 24, or
• Create your own virtual Red Kettle and ring the bell online for friends, family, and business associates. Go to www.register2ring.org and follow the instructions to create your own kettle.
You can sponsor one or more Angels, who represent the holiday wishes of children throughout the community.
• Host an Angel Tree, to fulfill the holiday wishes of children throughout the community. We provide the Angels; you provide the tree; your customers or colleagues pick the Angels and return the gifts to your location for delivery to The Salvation Army’s holiday warehouse.
• Host an online Angel Tree. Spread-out corporate campuses often prefer a spreadsheet of Angel data that can easily be shared among their buildings.
• Select an Angel from an existing Angel Tree. We’ll let you know where public Angel Trees are located as the season advances.
Each person, club, organization or family that rings at a Red Kettle will help The Salvation Army provide holiday groceries and gifts for more than 1,600 children and their families, plus disabled adults and isolated elderly, this Christmas. Every $10 raised at a Red Kettle can provide a new toy and an article of new clothing for a child; each $150 can provide Christmas to an entire family: holiday groceries, toys and new clothing for children.
