Retool for 2010 Workshop Draws a Crowd

On June 23, more than 270 nonprofit leaders attended "Retool for 2010: Building a Brighter Future for Triangle Nonprofits." Triangle Community Foundation organized and hosted the workshop, which featured 17 roundtable sessions led by consultants and government officials with expertise in fundraising, board development, strategic planning and other capacity-building areas. Dempsey Benton, Director of the N.C. Office of Economic Recovery and Investment, presented during lunch, and community organizations set up booths to share information about additional capacity-building opportunities for nonprofits.

Triangle Community Foundation was pleased by the turnout and grateful for the hard work of the presenters and speakers. In an evaluation completed after the event, more than 98 percent of respondents said they would attend another workshop like Retool for 2010 in the future.

At the workshop, Triangle Community Foundation President Andrea Bazan released the results of a survey completed by 251 area nonprofits. The Foundation sent out the survey in April to gauge how nonprofits were doing financially during the economic downturn and to find out how best to help. Read the report to see what we learned.
