New Members needed for Durham County's Social Services Board

The Durham County Board of Social Services is now recruiting new members for three-year terms that begin July 2011 and July 2012.
The Durham County Board of Social Services is comprised of five members whose duties and responsibilities are:
1) To select the County's director of Social Services
2) To advise county and municipal authorities in developing policies and plans to improve the social conditions of the community
3) To consult with the director of social services about problems relating to the agency and to assist in planning budgets for the agency.
4) To transmit budgets of the County Department of Social Services to the Board of County Commissioners
The Social Services Board meets once per month for two hours.
The Board is seeking a diverse pool of potential candidates interested in serving in this role. Business owners that hire Work First customers and those with knowledge and experience working with recipients of services and programs provided by the Durham County's Department of Socials Services are strongly encouraged to apply.
