By: Stephen J. Melott, TGMC Marketing Director

On June 12, 2011, the Triangle Gay Men's Chorus (TGMC) and the Common Woman Chorus (CWC), both based in Durham, NC, will partner to bring to the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area the first local performance of "A Proclamation of Hope", featuring Sing for the Cure: the world renowned choral work with orchestra which honors the lives and bravery of all those affected by breast cancer.

The net proceeds of this concert will be shared equally by the Triangle Gay Men's Chorus, Common Woman Chorus and Susan G. Komen For the Cure NC-Triangle, all of which are 501-(c)3 non-profit organizations.

Komen for the Cure-NC Triangle is the local affiliate of Susan G.Komen for the Cure, the world leader in breast cancer support.

Plans are underway to present this concert at the Meymandi Concert Hall of Raleigh's Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Corporate and individual sponsors are needed to help underwrite the production costs associated with this performance.
Interested parties may contact TGMC's Project Coordinator, Mr. Brent Troth, at development@tgmchorus.org.

Background info:

Originally commissioned by Nancy G. Brinker , founder and CEO of Komen for the Cure, "Sing for the Cure" is a musical journey that takes listeners through the myriad of emotions experienced by breast cancer victims and their loved ones.

Sing for the Cure had its world premiere on June of 2000 with renowned poet laureate Maya Angelou narrating. Ten years on, the universal message of hope for the cure transcends cultural, language and political barriers as the music embodies the pain, struggles, hope and humor of dealing with a disease for which there is still no cure.
