330-acre Johnston tract boosts Mountains-to-Sea Trail

Three recent land acquisitions will give a push to North Carolina's Mountains-to-Sea Trail in the Triangle and the Triad.
State parks officials this month completed the purchase of 330 acres at the confluence of Marks Creek and the Neuse River in Johnston County, near the Wake County border.
The land provides about 2 miles of trail along the river, including space for campsites. It will be part of a 60-mile trail section from Falls Lake in Wake into Johnston that is scheduled for completion by 2012.
