Compared to 15 of our peer metros, the Triangle ranks 12th in number of foundations. However, our ratio of foundations with less than $1 million in assets to our foundations with more than $1 million in assets shows the shallowness of our asset base for philanthropy.

The majority of Triangle foundations have less than $1 million in assets.

Our foundations gave $679 for every resident between 2000 and 2006.
